History of Medicine is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic research journal, publishing original scientific articles on the history and philosophy of medicine, the methodology and fundamental challenges in the establishment of medicine as a science, research based on archival materials, sources, translations of articles on the history and philosophy of medicine, and ideas reflecting important trends in historical analysis and developing principles of medicine.

The journal was founded in 2014 by the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University and the non-commercial charitable organisation "Fund for the Development of New Medical Technologies", Moscow, Russia. Currently the journal is supported and published by the "Fund for the Development of New Medical Technologies" in collaboration with Pensoft Publishers. The responsibility for the peer-review and editorial process and the published content is of the "Fund for the Development of New Medical Technologies".
